On behalf of the Directional Team, I’m excited to announce three staff transitions that will take place in 2025:
- Ryan Berg, currently the Assistant Pastor of Soul Care, will become the Executive Director of Luma Counseling in February 2025.
- Stephanie Johnson will retire from her staff role as Director of IT in mid-2025.
- Heather Nunn, Director of Communication, will be joining the Directional Team.
Ryan Berg Transitioning to Executive Director of Luma Counseling
Ryan Berg has served on College Park Church staff for over five years as Assistant Pastor of Soul Care. As part of his role with Soul Care at College Park, Ryan has been serving in a limited capacity as Luma’s Director of Counseling for much of 2024 and has done an outstanding job. Luma has continued to grow and thrive, and it became clear that his unique combination of counseling acumen, leadership, and heart to reach our community made him a great fit for the Executive Director role. After a national search with a number of candidates, the Luma Counseling board selected Ryan. He will transition from his role as Assistant Pastor of Soul Care to his new role effective February 1.
With the transition of Executive Director responsibilities to Ryan, Tyler Riffe, Assistant Pastor of Local Outreach and current Executive Director of Luma Counseling, will serve as the chairman of the Luma Board. This will allow Tyler to focus on his other Local Outreach responsibilities.
We have opened a search for the Assistant Pastor of Soul Care position and are accepting applications.
Stephanie Johnson Retiring from College Park Church Staff
Stephanie Johnson has played a crucial role on staff for over twenty-five years, first starting as a children’s ministry leader and more recently as Director of IT. Stephanie and her husband, John, joined College Park in 1987 and raised their four children here. Stephanie and John volunteered in a number of different roles including as Sunday school director. In 1999 the church staff had grown to about fifteen people, and Stephanie was asked to join the paid staff team as the children’s ministry leader.
As computer technology became an important tool for church ministry, Stephanie, who has a mechanical engineering background, was asked in 2010 to develop and lead the information technology area for College Park. Stephanie became the help desk, design engineer, software specialist, network analyst, internet negotiator, wiring installer, cyber security investigator, and technology strategist for College Park.
We are grateful for the countless ways Stephanie has served the mission and people of College Park over the years, usually behind the scenes. We will recognize Stephanie for her contribution to our church and staff later in 2025 before she officially retires from her role.
To fulfill the breadth of technology needs for College Park ministries, two positions have been posted and are accepting applications: IT Manager and Web & Database Specialist.
Heather Nunn Added to Directional Team
Starting this January, Heather Nunn, who serves as Director of Communication, will become part of the staff Directional Team. Heather has served on staff for six and a half years on the Communication Team. Before serving at College Park, Heather served with Lifeway Christian Resources and NAMB, having previously earned a master’s degree in missiology from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
As Director of Communication, Heather already provides valuable wisdom and discernment for College Park ministry initiatives and the communication that supports them. Through this role on the Directional Team, Heather will provide even greater influence on ministry priorities and on our cultural values of creativity, depth, and impact.
When you see these three faithful servants, please express your gratitude and join us in praying for God to lead in filling the important open positions.
