Student Ministry Leadership Announcement

Written by College Park Church on

Dear College Park,

Thank you for praying for us as we’ve searched for the right man to serve as Assistant Pastor of Student Ministry. In God’s timing and providence, Evan Collister (currently Assistant Pastor of Young Adults & Stewardship) applied for the role and has been interviewed and affirmed by the elders. Evan will start in this new role on Sunday, Aug. 4.

Watch the video below to learn more about this transition.

It is hard to imagine not being at Student Ministry every Sunday. Over the years, I (Alex) have participated in over 1,000 nights of youth group, many retreats, and many hours on buses, vans, and plane rides which included broken bones, stitches, salvations, prayer, and the list goes on! It has been a blessing.

As we prepare for the fall and Evan transitioning roles, could you pray for a smooth transition for Student Ministry and also for the areas of Young Adults & Stewardship?

FAQ

When will this go into effect?

  • August 4
  • This timing allows Evan to wrap up things in Fireside/Young Adults & Stewardship during the month of July.

What does this mean for the Fireside young adult ministry?

  • Chris Skinner will serve as the interim leader of Fireside.
  • Evan and the Executive Team will be taking the next season to determine the staffing plan for young adults, singles, and stewardship. We plan to hire another staff position serving young adults, singles, and stewardship as soon as possible; we are discerning exactly what kind of role is best.
  • Evan has done a great job leading Fireside and establishing a volunteer team, so they are in a good place for him to transition out of this ministry area.

What does this mean for my role?

  • I will continue to oversee Students, Children, Hospitality, and Events.
  • As my focus shifts to broader leadership of Sunday Ministries, my goal is to partner with parents more intentionally and help them in unique ways that we have not focused on in the past.
  • I will also lead and walk alongside Evan as he transitions into the Student Ministry role.

Will additional staff be hired for Student Ministry?

  • Yes! In April we hit pause on hiring a Worship and Events Coordinator for Student Ministry, given that we were so close to hiring an assistant pastor.
  • We will resume that process the first week of July with Evan being highly involved.

Thank you for your endurance, patience, and care for Student Ministry.

Blessings,

Alex Anderson
Pastor of Students and Sunday Ministries
