Staff Update for the Outreach Team

Written by College Park Church on

Dear College Park Member,

Last week I updated you on staffing re-alignments related to adult discipleship. This week, we are pleased to announce a second set of exciting updates that will support our path forward across our Outreach Ministry areas.
We are grateful for evidence of God working and the incredible momentum with our strategic partnership with College Park Elementary School (CPES), for the development of Luma Counseling, and the strong engagement in Global Outreach.  Some examples of growth across these ministries include over 75 people being served by Luma just in September, 184 people going on the 15 Vision Trips in 2023, and over 100 volunteers being actively engaged with CPES.
Here are the related staffing updates for Outreach:

1. Tyler Riffe has been affirmed by the elders as Assistant Pastor of Local Outreach.
After an extensive search process, the elders interviewed and affirmed Tyler Riffe to start in this role in January. Tyler’s passion for serving and helping others has been evident in how he has served in the capacity of Executive Director of Luma Counseling. The role as Assistant Pastor of Local Outreach will further utilize Tyler’s gifts, strong passion, and sense of calling to serve in the local church to support our reach to neighbors in our communities around College Park. Tyler will continue to provide strategic leadership to Luma Counseling as it grows and becomes independent. Tyler and his wife, Bethany, have been at College Park for 15 years, and over that timeframe he helped with the launches of Castleton Community Church and Crosspointe Church (Greenwood). He earned an MDiv. from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, which he pursued as part of his ministry development over 15 years with Greek InterVarsity.

2. Pastoral Resident Keyon Atkins transitioning to Local Outreach focus in his residency.
In his pastoral residency, Keyon has faithfully served in a variety of ministry rotations since June. These rotations have included Students, Care & Connection, Soul Care, and Hospitality. During the process of strategic discussions about growth and leadership for Local Outreach, discussions revealed a high level of mutual interest of Keyon becoming more involved in this ministry area in a pastoral residency role focused on Local Outreach. Keyon will specifically be appointed to help develop our strategic intent to build bridges through relationships and partnerships with CPES. Therefore, we are pleased to announce that effective January, Keyon’s residency focus will become dedicated to Local Outreach.

3. Ryan Skinner has been promoted to the role of Director of Global Outreach.
Finally, I wanted to make you aware that Ryan Skinner will assume the role of Director of Global Outreach starting in January. Ryan has been on staff almost 4 years and prior to that gained over 15 years of experience in global missions work both domestically and while living with his family in Panama. Ryan is stepping into increased leadership in both Global and Local Outreach, specifically providing leadership and coordination for First Fridays, JIM Nights, Vision Trips, Perspectives, and strategic missionary care.

We continue to be amazed at how God’s provision supplies the gifts, skills, and capabilities needed on our staff team in every season. Let’s pray God would continue to build bridges of grace for the gospel in 2024, both locally and around the world.
