5 Christmas Novels You’ll Love

Written by Hannah Woodhouse on

Looking for a good Christmas novel to curl up with this month? I asked our staff for their favorites. Yes, one of them is technically more of a picture book. I’m throwing it on here anyway because excluding such a classic seems like a “grinchy” move. . .

1. A Wish for Wings That Work: An Opus Christmas Story

“It’s more of a kid’s tale, but this book shows that you can have dreams and aspirations, but they may not always work out the way you want. Sometimes, an ordinary skill or ability that you have can be the key to unlocking more in your life or even accomplishing a dream.” – Geoff Watkins

2. Skipping Christmas

Christmas Novels“I love the book Skipping Christmas. This book shares the idea that, sometimes, we think we can be selfish and just do what we want with our time; that we deserve to only think of ourselves. But it rarely feels as good as we think. It is better to do what is best for everyone and be together, and this book shows that play out.” – Kelly Alexander

3. The Best Christmas Pageant Ever

“I love The Best Christmas Pageant Ever because it is laugh-out-loud funny! Plus, it does a great job of pointing to human foibles.” – Dale Shaw (note: the ebook is currently free on Amazon)

4. The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe

“So, it isn’t technically a Christmas book, but The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is one of my favorites. Specifically, I love when Father Christmas shows up and it spells the end of suffering under the oppression of the White Witch. I have loved this part of the story since I became a follower of Jesus at eight-years-old. It helped me understand the idea that salvation is a “gift” from God. The Christmas/Father Christmas aspect of the story did that for me.” – Ryan Berg

How the Grinch Stole Christmas

5. How the Grinch Stole Christmas

How the Grinch Stole Christmas is one of my all-time favorite Christmas books. I love it because my grandkids sit down next to me and we read it together every year at Christmastime.” – Don Bartemus (note: the movie version of this classic is also a great holiday selection for the family!)
