This year, our Christmas Offering is focused on Brookside, a near eastside neighborhood here in Indianapolis. We’ve given to the Brookside Initiative through Christmas Offerings before (in 2008 and 2012) and have been so encouraged by how God has moved.
Your generosity this year will help support projects that touch on five key aspects integral to healthy communities:
Safe & affordable housing
We are partnering with Covenant Community Housing, an organization that buys and refurbishes homes in the Brookside neighborhood that are available to women who have completed Heart Change's Mother's University program.
Strong educational structures
Our partner for education is The Oaks Academy, a Christ-centered school that provides a rich, classical education to students of diverse racial and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Opportunities for economic development
Our partner for this key element of a healthy community is Purposeful Design. Purposeful Design is a furniture business that offers men an opportunity to experience the dignity and calling of work in an atmosphere of discipleship and intentional relationships.
We are so encouraged by what God is already doing through the ministries of several churches in the Brookside neighborhood. We believe that Jesus-centered churches are essential for a healthy community because only the gospel has the power to change lives. Your giving this year will support Nehemiah Bible Church, Englewood Christian Church, Brookside Community Church, & Wallace Street Evangelical Church.
A Culture of Place & Relationships
Every healthy neighborhood has a sense of place and a myriad of strong relationships between the people who live there. The opportunities for events and gatherings to help foster relationships amongst neighbors in Brookside are limitless.
