Elders

According to the New Testament concept of church leadership, Elders are to lead the church by teaching and preaching the Bible, protecting the church from false teachers, exhorting and admonishing the members in sound doctrine, judging doctrinal issues, visiting the sick and praying for them. Qualifications for Elders are listed in I Timothy 3. Elders are elected by the congregation to serve three year terms.

Deacons

According to the New Testament concept of church leadership, Deacons are to provide for the needs of the church membership. They are responsible as the servants of the church under the authority of the Elders. Their areas of responsibility include caring for the needs of the people and for the physical property of the church. Qualifications for Deacons are listed in I Timothy 3. They are elected by the congregation to serve three year terms. Deacons serve on teams in order to meet various needs of the church. These teams are:

Compassion Deacons

The Compassion Deacons of College Park Church are called to be the hands washing feet in all kinds of situations (John 13). From a newborn and a family needing meals, to picking up a loved one at the airport, the Compassion Deacons seek to pour out loving care upon the congregation of College Park Church . If you have an immediate physical need – or know someone who does – please do not hesitate to call the Compassion Deacons .

Facility Deacons

The Facility Deacons administrate or perform the tasks required for the development, maintenance and care of the facilities and grounds, alongside the maintenance staff. Volunteer members of the congregation are involved to help perform the tasks as necessary. Members of the staff or congregation can submit request for additions, repairs or changes to the facility and grounds.

Visitor Care Deacons

The Visitor Care Deacons are responsible to serve those attendees of College Park who are new and are trying to find their way around. Visitor Care Deacons help greet, guide, answer questions and welcome people to our church services. This team also helps to coordinate the activities of the Welcome Ministries (listed later in this booklet).
