logo activeadultsWelcome! Our focus as a ministry is encouragement and fellowship for those over 60, retired or semi-retired, single, widowed and couples.

Active Adults' Purpose

"And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the day drawing near." Hebrews 10:24-25 (ESV)

Our purpose is to provide fellowship, to encourage each other spiritually and to love one another in the Lord.  You are welcome to join us if you are 60 and over, whether single, widowed or a couple. To help reach those goals, we try to have a fellowship activity at least every other month.  Some activities are held at the College Park Church building, while others are at interesting sites nearby. We try to have at least one overnight retreat each year for extended fellowship, fun, encouragement and teaching.

Upcoming Events

We have three more events coming up in the next few weeks so place them on your calendar and sign up at our display table in the church foyer.  This is a wonderful opportunity to meet with old friends and make new ones!  It is our standard procedure to send out post card reminders of these events and if you do not receive them let us know and we will be sure to get you on the mailing list.
On Saturday, March 13th we will be joining the Twentysomethings class for a late afternoon, early evening of table games and refreshments at the Ministry Center's North Room from 4-8 PM.  Bring a favorite snack.  This young group of folks have asked for this time with us so please come and bless them with our appreciation for their commitment to the Lord.  Dick and Jeanne Niedermeyer will be the contacts for this event.  Call them at 317-571-0790.  Sign up is in the foyer.
A tour of beautiful Heartland Growers in Westfield has been scheduled for Wednesday, March 17th.  Come and get some new ideas for how to plant your garden this spring! Those needing a ride will meet at church.  Directions are available at our display in the church foyer.  Sign up is requested by Sunday, March 7th.  Your directors will be out of town until the day before this event so please call Doris Jacob at 317-867-5499 with any questions.  An optional lunch is scheduled at a local fine restaurant.
We have a tentative date of Friday, April 16th for a soup and sandwich supper with Karen Davis, special assistant to our Lt. Governor Becki Skillman and also Reverend Barnes from the statehouse.  This will give us an inside look into the daily life of our state government.  Sign up for this event will begin later in the month.

Service Opportunities

We serve the church and body of Christ with some appropriate service opportunities, both at the College Park Church building and also at local missions throughout the year.

Volunteers to help with events as well as ideas for fellowship events are greatly appreciated.

Directors Corner

Our Fall Festival was a great success with over 45 in attendance to hear Robert and Marty DeBruin share their new international CEF ministry, and hear of the Global Missionary Online program some of our members are doing.
We missed our beloved John Hartzell leading that time, but we know he was smiling down from above and glad of our missionary emphasis.

We had a record turnout for our annual Christmas dinner.  We all enjoyed a delicious catered dinner and the viewing of the movie, "The Nativity."
 

Bible Study

If there is enough interest the men’s Bible study will start again. The study has met at the church on Tuesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.  Call Dave Valcore at 838-1558 if interested.
