fellowship

The purpose of the fellowship ministries is to help to build community in the body of Christ at College Park . It is our desire to provide opportunities for fellowship, relationship building, edification and encouraging one another in Christ. Also, it is our goal to provide opportunities for the people of College Park to reach out to neighbors, co-workers, relatives and people in general who do not know the Lord or need to be encouraged in Christ.

Volunteers are needed in many areas of this ministry. You may choose to help with one event or be on a list to call to be available when there is a need. These ministries have been developed over the years and volunteers are needed to train, guide and coordinate these ministries.

Newcomer Fellowship Dinners

Members of College Park help put on a dinner for new attendees where they can meet the church staff, enjoy a meal, fellowship and ask questions about the church. A time of sharing and testimonies takes place, which is very encouraging. These occur three times per year. Volunteers are needed to help set-up and decorate tables, prepare food, clean-up, make phone calls, help with mailings and babysitting.

Great 8 Dinners

Great 8 is an opportunity for eight adults to get together once a month for dinner and fellowship. The purpose is to help the people of College Park to get to know others from the church who live close to them and to help people make connections and friendships. Great 8 lasts for four months, usually starting around January. Groups are formed using zip codes, and the first night is a “Meet your Great 8 Group Dinner” at the church. The host home rotates each month, with all the participants “pitching in” a dish. Volunteers are needed to help with making phone calls, set-up and decorate tables, prepare food, clean-up, help with mailings and babysitting.

Christmas Breakfast with Angels

This event is for families with pre-school and elementary aged children. Families come to the church for a breakfast, hear the Christmas story, make a craft, have a devotional by Pastor Don Bartemus and have their picture taken with a “Christmas Angel.” The purpose of the event is to focus our attention on Jesus during the Christmas season. Each family is given a packet of family devotions and activities to help them keep Jesus as the center of the Christmas celebration. Volunteers are needed for entertainment, music, and for dramatic portrayals of angels telling the Christmas story. Help is also needed for cooking, serving, clean-up, decorating and set-up, taking pictures, kitchen help and putting together devotional bags for each family.

Campout

The College Park campout is held each year at the end of the summer. It is for all attendees – old, young, families, singles. This is a great time of fellowship to grow closer to each other, worship together around a campfire, share in testimonies and have lots of fun.

Hallelujah Night

Hallelujah Night is an alternative to trick-or-treating. The church is turned into an indoor/outdoor carnival with pony rides, miniature golf, petting zoo and carnival games. Children receive candy and can make crafts and decorate cookies. This is an opportunity for members of College Park and their children to invite their unsaved friends and family and enjoy a safe October 31.

Deaf Church

College Park Church has been blessed with attendees who are deaf or hearing-impaired. We host a deaf church in our building. Services are at 11:00 at the Ministry Center . The deaf members also attend the main service at 9:30 am and have an interpreter. This opens a great door for anyone who knows sign language and would be willing to help translate to our friends. We currently do have people who minister as translators, but more help is always welcome.
