The Compassion Ministries of College Park Church desire to share the love and the gospel of Jesus Christ by being salt and light in our church and community. We do this by promoting care for the temple of the Holy Spirit (our bodies), and by coming alongside to help those who are in physical need.

  • Our goal is minister the grace of God to those in need in order to show that we are Christians by our love. We have been taught that we must love God and love our neighbors. We believe the way to do this is to care for their physical needs.
  • Our objective is to bear one another’s physical burdens. When a person is ill they tend to look externally for their solutions…we want to help them to look to God for answers.

These things promote a sense of oneness to the Body of Christ at College Park as well as a sense of belonging. And in this, we seek to win the lost with the gospel of Christ coupled with our care in their time of need.

There are two basic elements to our Compassion Ministries.

Health Care Ministries:

This ministry, led by our parish nurses, provides the following:

  1. Health Information: This includes offering various health screenings, a ministry information rack, and regular health “fair” workshops.
  2. Hospital / Home Visitation and Resources: This includes the assignment and assessment of a doctor or nurse in our congregation to a family member in physical need. Then, a team is assembled to care for this person.
  3. Education and Support for Caregivers: Many times the caregivers are overlooked and this ministry gives education and other resources for support to the caregiver.

Compassion was a big portion of the ministry of our Lord! It is a great opportunity to show people the love of Christ and make Him known to our community. At the present time we have three parish nurses who coordinate our efforts but we are looking for people who love others from all walks of life.

The Jeremiah Project

Jeremiah Project is a prenatal and perinatal ministry designed to help discover God's way of dealing with all issues surrounding pregnancy. The church often addresses prenatal issues in the public square and we also want to have a structured ministry within the church to meet the needs of people dealing with issues such as infertility, unexpected pregnancy, premature birth, adoption, complications, miscarriage, still birth, early infant death and post abortion stress.
