What's the Need?

Those who live in Brookside know that neighborhood has some unique and large challenges. These streets are know by the IMPD as "the Swamp". Some 20% of all police calls placed in Indianapolis come from this neighborhood; a place where prostitution and drug deals are common in the broad daylight, and where 7 in 10 students will drop out of school before receiving their high school diploma.
Statistics, however, are only a pale reminder of the stark reality of real people trying very hard to raise their families with very limited resources. Parents here love and care for their children's safety and future, and they could benefit from hope and resources that many of us take for granted.
The need is not about statistics, it's about souls. It's not about headlines but about hearts. Let our hearts be filled with compassion to invest in relationships with these very real souls.
