    Lead Pastor

Mark joined the leadership team at College Park Church as Lead Pastor in April 2008, after serving for 13 years in western Michigan. God miraculously and surprisingly called his family from a wonderful ministry in Michigan, to join a clear divine and historic movement of God at College Park Church. Mark sees God's hand throughout the ministry in the church with a unique blend of passion for Jesus, a love for the Word, and a desire to see lives changed. Mark believes God is at work here in the church, and is thrilled to participate in igniting a passion to follow Jesus.

Mark is a graduate of Cedarville University and Grand Rapids Theological Seminary. He has written articles that are published in Leadership and 9Marks Journal. In addition to his responsibilities of preaching and leadership at College Park, Mark serves on the boards of Cedarville University and Life Action Ministries. Mark and his wife, Sarah, have four children, Hayden, Joseph, Jeremiah, and Savannah, and one daughter, Sylvia, who is in heaven after her unexpected still-birth in February 2004.

    Pastor of Theological Development

Joe Bartemus is responsible for adult education and theological development at College Park Church. Joe loves theology and the study of the Scriptures. He enjoys learning from others and sharing in the development of the lives of God's people in knowing God more fully and serving God with great passion.  Joe’s wife, Cathy, is a long-time music teacher, and they have three kids, Tami, Joe, and Christi. Joe was saved as a very young child growing up in a Christian family. He attended a Christian school and college and then taught in a Christian high school on Long Island, NY, for three years. He then sensed that God wanted him to be equipped to teach His word better so he journeyed to Grace Seminary in Indiana and received an M.Div. God providentially opened up the opportunity for Joe to return home to Maryland and pastor a church there for three years. Later, God led him back to Indiana through some very difficult family issues. He  worked as a manager in a manufacturing plant in Carmel for almost 12 years before God opened up an opportunity to return to ministry at College Park Church. Joe considers himself blessed to be in the ministry, counseling, preaching, marrying, burying, mission tripping, and all the things that involve the life of the church.

Tom was blessed to grow up in a loving family that went to church every Sunday but were not believers. In his mid-20’s, he attended a Bible Study where he first heard the gospel message but he didn’t see the relevance to his life. A few years later, when Tom was struggling at work and living life under his own power, God brought back to mind the message of what His Son, Jesus Christ, had done for him. It was then that Tom trusted in Christ for his salvation.

Shortly after moving to Indianapolis in 2001, Tom and his family started attending College Park Church. They loved the expository preaching, Bible studies, small group fellowship and opportunities to serve. Now he is involved in First Hand Ministries; he  leads a small group and is occasionally involved with biblical counseling. Tom’s and his wife, Janice, have been blessed with two wonderful children, Brian and Natalie.

Stephen grew up going to church Sunday mornings, evenings and Wednesday nights and was blessed to clearly hear the gospel on a regular basis. He asked Christ to forgive him of his sins and to come into his heart on his seventh birthday. He was baptized not long afterwards. Stephen understood that he was a sinner and that Jesus died for his sins. Although he prayed several other times growing up just to "make sure," looking back he firmly believes Christ became his Lord and Savior when he was seven. He was faithful and served in the church throughout his youth but drifted away the last couple of years of high school and most of his time through college. He knew what he was doing was wrong and repented and recommitted his life to Christ before his last semester in college and began growing again in his faith.

Stephen began attending College Park Church and several years later God provided him a wonderful godly wife and together they are passionate about pleasing God, growing in Christlikeness, and training their children to follow God. He praises God for His sovereignty in each season of his life and for the joy God has given as he served over the years in various capacities including church communications, leading small groups, and facilitating Bible studies.

Stewardship Director / Campus Property Development Manager

For Rick Hampton, church attendance was normal.  However, he did not hear the gospel message until he attended Willow Creek Church in 1985. The preaching was personal and the gospel message was given clearly.  The conviction of his sin and his need for Jesus Christ as a personal Savior weighed heavy on his heart.  Upon accepting Jesus as his Lord and Savior,  Rick’s life began to change.  The change was not a dramatic "big bang," but a gentle change of spirit, attitude, priorities and perspective.  Rick’s dependence on who Jesus is and what he did, along with his total dependence upon God, was and continues to be a blessing.

Rick and his family moved to Indianapolis and became members of College Park Church in 1996.  Rick deems College Park Church a catalyst in his relationship with Christ and his spiritual growth. For Rick it has been a privilege to serve on the Local Outreach Accountability Team and to lead a young married Small Group. Rick is also the Stewardship Director and Campus Property Development Manager on staff.

God began to shape Nate’s heart for the nations before he was even aware of the nations. Born to missionary parents in Pakistan, Nate had the privilege of growing up there as a “third-culture kid”. However, it wasn't until college that God awakened his heart to the people living in situations like the Pakistanis he grew up with, those who have never heard the gospel and are most likely never to hear it because there are so few believers in their people group.

God led Nate along with his wife and family back to Pakistan, where they served for 14 years in theological education with TEAM. Then He brought them back to the States, surprisingly, in 2000 with some health issues.

Now, in His gracious sovereignty, He has them serving at College Park Church in the capacity of challenging, preparing, and enabling cross-cultural messengers of the gospel.

Steve grew up in a good and moral family. He and his parents went to church each Sunday but were not Christians.  While attending a marriage conference seven years into his marriage,  he and his wife heard a very clear gospel presentation.  Steve realized he was a sinner in need of a Savior. That evening, Oct. 11, 1977,  he and his wife, Jody, both invited Jesus Christ into  their lives to be their Lord and Savior.  For the first time, Steve realized his sins had separated him from a relationship with God. The Holy Spirit began his redeeming work in changing his heart from the inside out.

Since joining College Park Church in February 2001, Steve has grown in applying the expository preaching and the in-depth Sunday School teaching. This growth over the years has also been in his training of biblical counseling and seeing how the all-sufficiency of Scripture and the power of the Holy Spirit can penetrate counselees’ lives, transforming their hearts to please God. Steve and Jody also counsel engaged couples and facilitate a small group.  Steve prays that through God’s wisdom and grace, he will continue to walk by faith, not by sight, being obedient to God’s calling and will for his life.

Since coming to College Park Church, Dave and his wife have served together in marriage and children's ministries.

One of his life's passions is to see Christ glorified through the church. Dave considers himself privileged to serve the saints of College Park Church as both a deacon and an elder. His prayer is that College Park Church would be a place where believers can work out their salvation in a community, proclaim the truth in a postmodern age, and be the light of Christ in a dark world.

Lance was born into a Christian home of an anabaptist persuasion, and grew up the eldest of three boys in the suburbs of Chicago. His mother was one of the first members of their denomination to serve as an overseas missionary, living in Japan for over two years before meeting his father.

Some of the activities Lance has enjoyed at College Park Church include subbing as a teacher for Jim Williams in the New World Class, working with several small groups as a coach, organizing a short-term missions trip to east Asia and praying for dear friends on the mission field. He and his wife, Tracy, also enjoy working in the nursery and being in ministry together through the Oaks Academy, where Tracy serves as a counselor in conjunction with the Heart Change Ministry. Finally, they both enjoyed working with a few others from a Sunday School class in providing worship services for the past nine years at a local retirement home, where he would preach once a month to a group of 6-15 mostly widowed elderly women.

Lance wants to see the church continue to grow in love for each other, as Christ said that a great witness for Him would be evidenced in the way the church loves each other in unity (John 17:21). Lance loves fellowshipping with diverse groups of believers, discipling young men, and seeking God as He provides navigation through contemporary societal issues.

Jim was a church-goer when he moved to Indianapolis in 1991, but that winter the gospel unfolded before him for the first time. He had heard the words before, but it was only then that it became clear to him that he was truly a sinner, and that Jesus had died for him.

Thus, Easter of 1992 was very special for Jim, as it was the first Easter season during which he understood what it meant for Jesus to die on the cross, and how His resurrection means life to all who believe.  Jim moved with his family to College Park Church in March of 1995, and it has been a wonderful place for him to grow in Christ. Jim is privileged to serve here as an elder, and his life is closely knit together with the members of the New World Sunday school class, which he has taught since early in 2000. Jim is married to Kathy and they are blessed with three children, Alex, Katie and Dani.
